22/7's Mei Hanakawa Suspends Activities Over Health Concerns

Being an idol is a demanding job even when you're in the best of health; more so when health issues arise.Most recently, Mei Hanakawa of mixed media group 22/7 has announced she will be suspending idol activities indefinitely.

The group has already been working hard as virtual YouTubers, as well as putting on live shows and releasing singles.A tie-in anime is on the way in January.However, the performer behind stoic idol Nicole Saito will be absent from the next boom In a blog post today, she revealed that she has been battling health issues for several months and in the care of a physician.The nature of her illness has been kept private.

Despite constant care and workarounds in her schedule, it was decided that she could not currently keep up with the demands of the job.In her post, she apologizes to her fans, but also says she is planning to return as soon as possible.

She goes on to say she loves her job and her fans, and signs off with a request: "Please wait for Mei Hanagawa."

We wish her all the best for a speedy recovery, and look forward to seeing and hearing her again in the future.
