Cooking With Anime: Rock Candy PEOPLE inspired by Dr. STONE

Dr. STONEHe uses his intellect and SCIENCE to figure out how to cure everyone, and then the new hit anime of the summer season is all about a guy, Senku, who develops a de-petrifying cure after everyone in the world gets frozen in stone. sets about creating a new society based on MORE SCIENCE.

As someone who is interested in SCIENCE as well, I was intrigued by the pref. As it was happen happily, I wondered how I might make a science / food related recipe for you all to enjoy while watching it. Of course, the EVERYONE does this. Right? That's the time-honored summer-science project every kid does at least once-making your own rock candy. EVERYONE does this. Right?

And since this anime is all about de-rockifying people, I thought it would be funny if I was broken if and I ATE them. After this critical thought process, I went on sy and found some Now, rock candy isn't partically difficult, but there are a few things you need to keep in mind: human-shaped popsicle sticks and got to work.

  • When you get started, begin by coating your popsicle sticks (you can also use thick string or just wooden skewers) in a little water, and rolling them generously in sugar. be. Let them dry COMPLETELY before you dip them in the syrup.
  • After making the rock candy syrup, you need to let it cool to room temperature so it won't melt the sugar crystals off your base.
  • If you start with bigger sugar crystals initially, I think you would have had to wait so long to get prominent crystals growing, but this is an If you have any insight, comments below! un-tested hypothesis.

In the meantime, enjoy nomming on your candy people as you watch Senku depetrify them on screen.

Watch the video below to see the full process!

  • 2 cups water
  • 4 cups sugar
  • Orange Extract / extract of your choice
  • Black dye
  • You can also use a food safe string, or a wooden skewer. You want something with a bit of a handle to hold on to while while you are also need a stick to make your candy on! I found human-shaped popsicle sticks on Etsy. nibble on your candy.

1. Coat your sticks with water, and then with granulated sugar. Allow to dry completely.

Stir between additions to dissolve sugar. Once sugar is completely incorporated, remove from heat and add in extract and food dye. Stir through, and allow to cool completely.

Attach shipping pins to the bottom of your little wooden people's feet, and suspend upside down in the liquid. Set aside for about 2 weeks to let sugar crystals form.

Be careful-the sugar crystals are sharp enough to cut (not badly, but enough to make lemon juice hurt).
