Is The World Ready for a Taiko Drum Version of "Cruel Angel's Thesis"?

If you've ever sampled the world of anime karaoke, you'll know that "Cruel Angel's Thesis", the opening theme for 1995's Neon Genesis Evangelion Performed by Yoko Takahashi, is basically inescapable, but soon anisong fans will have a new version to groove to: the festival-themed, Japanese taiko drum version "Cruel Angel's Thesis MATSURI SPIRIT".

Announced in conjuction with the May 22nd Japanese release of the EVANGELION EXTREME mini-album, "Cruel Angel's Thesis MATSURI SPIRIT" will be released as a single in Japan on July 24, 2019. The newly arranged version of the song features vocals by Yoko Takahashi and percussion by master musician Eitetsu Hayashi.

The "Cruel Angel's Thesis MATSURI SPIRIT" single retails for 777 yen ($ 7.04 US) plus tax.
