To appeal the concept of "Sacred Place for Anime: Ikebukuro" to anime fans in Japan and abroad, Toshima

Ward in Tokyo and Animate have decided that they will will steaming their three-minute co-production short

Acclaimed anime production studio Shaft works on anime production of the "Ikebukuro PR Anime." Yukio

Takatsu, best known as the opening movie director for the studio's Monogatari series, serves as director,

while Reiko Yoshida (K-ON!, Girls und Panzer) provides a script.

In case

The story is told in various places in the Ikebukuro area in 2020, including Hareza Ikebukuro (a new commercial

complex that is scheduled to open at the grounds of the former ward office in the summer of 2020) and

four new parks to open in the area by 2020. Through one girl's grown-up story, the charms of the area,

such as "the town where everyone can be the protagonist," are depicted.

Based on the original story chosen in an open competition, the characters are designed by the Monogatari

series' character designer Akio Watanabe. One of the main characters, an incarnation of owl who guides the

story is voiced by 31-year-old popular voice actor Shouta Aoi (Licht von Grannzreich in The Royal Tutor).
