Pokémon Home Releases, Lets Trainers Brings Old Friends to the Galar Region

Pokémon HOME

After being announced on January 28, the cloud-storage Pokémon HOME service released today on the Nintendo Switch and smartphone platforms Android and iOS, letting veteran trainers bring up their Pokémon from the Pokémon Bank service on the Nintendo 3DS. Thanks to the quick reporting of Serebii, full details of the launch have been released, including new gift Pokémon available right now, which new Pokémon can be moved over to Pokémon Sword and Shield, and more.

Pokémon HOME

As previously announced, the platform has two services; a free service which lets you store 30 Pokémon from the Nintendo Switch Pokémon games, and a paid service that lets trainers store 6,000 Pokémon, bring them up from Pokémon Bank – Which also got an update today, and is free for a month –, and access all the features of the service.

Thanks to being able to bring up Pokémon from past generations, the first non-native Galar Pokémon are able to be brought into the region – the first of over 200 Pokémon that will be included in the upcoming expansion pass.Included are the Kanto starters, the Alolan starters, mythical Pokémon from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Unova (other than Victini) and Alola, all the legendaries from Unova and Alola, Mewtwo, and Meltan and MelmetalNo Pokémon from Sinnoh or Kalos are available to be brought into Pokémon Sword and Shield yet.

Pokémon HOME

Pokémon HOME also introduced trainers to Grand Oak (or DaiOak in Japanese, a play on the term ‘Dai (big)’ and Dynamax), the ‘creator’ of Pokémon HOME.It ’s not yet known how he fits into the Oak family yet, or if he ’s an Oak we ’ve seen before …

With the launch of the application, you ’ll be able to get four different gift Pokémon which unlock after certain conditions are met. Rotom that unlocks after you use the GTS, a Pichu that appears after you collect a sticker when finishing your first challenge, the choice of a Kanto starter when you open the smartphone app and connect it to your profile, and Pikachu that appears in a box when you first load up the app.

You can start using Pokémon HOME right now on your Nintendo Switch and smartphone.A free month of Pokémon Bank for Nintendo 3DS is available from today to celebrate the launch of HOME and to let Pokémon trainers bring up their Pokémon from previous main entries in the franchise.
