Ryuji Sato Suits Up for The Laughing Salesman Stage Play

Be careful what you wish for, because a new key visual has been revealed for the stage-play adaptation of The Laughing Salesman, a work that is based on the dark comedy / psychological manga by Fujiko A. Fujio about a mysterious, too-friendly vendor who offers troubled people their hearts' desires … for a price.

The key visual (below) features actor Ryuji Sato dressed in full costume and make-up as the titular character, Fukuzo Moguro.

Crunchyroll currently streams the 2017 anime adaptation of The Laughing Salesman and describes the story of the series as follows:

My name is Fukuzou Moguro, and people call me the Laughing Salesman.I am no ordinary salesman.The merchandise I sell is the human soul itself.Hooo-ho-ho-ho … All people in this world, young and old, male and female, are lonely.I am here to fill the emptiness in all of their souls.No, I won't accept a single coin in return.As long as my customer is satisfied, that's all the payment I need. I wonder what sort of customer I'll serve today … Hooo-ho-ho-ho-ho …

The Laughing Salesman stage play is directed by Kensaku Kobayashi and also stars Shougo Tamura, Shougo Yamazaki, Koichiro Tomioka, Kaoru Noguchi, Yoshihiro Minami, Masatoshi Ikemura, Satoshi Fujimura, Ryouta Kakegawa, Sayaka Itō, and Mayu Tsuyuzume.It will run from March 23-May 05, 2020, at the Shinagawa Stellar Ball venue in Tokyo and from May 07-10, 2020, at the AiiA 2.5 Theater Kobe in Hyogo.
