Switch's Super NES Games Won't Have a Regular Release Schedule

Super NES on Switch

One of the best surprises of this past week's Nintendo Direct was the reveal of Super Nintendo Games, which were immediately added to the Switch Online library. As long as you pay for a yearly subscription, these and the previously-released NES games are all free to play, but don't expect the new batch to continue with a regular release schedule .

Nintendo Japan addressed future plans in an article, stating that both NES and SNES releases moving forward will be "irregular." Since NES games originally hit Switch Online, subscribers have been treated to monthly updates with new titles, including those cool SP releases that served up remixed versions of classic games.

It remains to be seen whether or not Nintendo will eventually move back to a more regular schedule for NES and Super NES digital drops. For now, at least there are some real gems in the first batch of 20.

Has anyone been taking advantage of the SNES titles on Switch? Let us know what you're playing!
