Awesome Games Done Quick 2021 Kicks Off Another Charity Speedrun Marathon This Sunday

Awesome Games Done Quick 2021

It's almost time once again for an amazing week-long live stream showcasing some of the best speedrunners in the world. That's right, Awesome Games Done Quick 2021 is nearly upon us, keeping up with SGDQ 2020's strategy of being online-only as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It all goes down on the Games Done Quick Twitch channel, and you'll be able to catch a varied assortment of games and expert speedrunners from January 3-10.

This year's schedule is as stacked as ever, kicking off with Mirror's Edge at noon on January 3 and closing with Pokémon Blue on January 9 and an All Dungeons run of The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time in the wee hours of January 10. Between those runs you'll see everything from Mega Man X5 to Fist of the North Star on NES, a Resident Evil 5 NG Co-Op Amateur run, and much more.

All proceeds will go to the Prevent Cancer Foundation, for which they managed to raise a record-high $ 3.1 million this time last year. Since it started in 2010, AGDQ has raised over $ 15 million for charitable organizations.

The most recent related stream was the Fleet Fatales 2020 marathon, which raised $ 81,111.18 for Malala Fund. Prior to that, Summer Games Done Quick 2020 raised an amazing 2.3 million dollars for Doctors Without Borders, and if you missed any of those runs they're all up with everything else on the GDQ YouTube channel.
