The third season of the live-action Saint Young Men adaptation of the comedy manga series from Hikaru Nakamura will be airing on NHK on January 11 and 18. To get fans laughing early, a 2-minute trailer for the godly series was posted on the YouTube channel for the drama series depicting Jesus helping Buddha with his phone and turning water into tea, a popular Japanese beverage.
The series features Kenichi Matsuyama playing Jesus, complete with a crown of thorns, and Shota Sometani as Buddha. Saint Young Men is directed by Yuichi Fukuda (Gintama live-action film, Hentai Kamen), who his leaving his own comedic flair on the live-action series.
After the third season finishes on NHK, Saint Young Men will debut on Netflix on January 20 and have a limited theatrical run for one week from January 24.The second season of the drama had its theatrical debut on June 6, and was supposed to air on NHK on October 5 and 12 but was interrupted by Typhoon Hagibis and rescheduled to air on NHK on January 25, after the third season.
