This project is realized because of the story of the film, which is about an adventure story in which the protagonist, Suzume, travels around Japan, and the message that is contained in the story of closing the "door." Along with the Suzume's line, "Toward an interesting future together with local communities," the project aims to appeal the message, "No matter where you are in Japan, May there will be no more disconnections."
Message from Makoto Shinkai:
We live our daily lives repeating "Ittekimasu" and "Itterasshai" countless times. How precious are these ordinary days. How miraculous it is to be able to say "Okaerinasai" every day. KDDI-san gave me the opportunity to think about these things and express them. I am very happy to be able to show this commercial in many people's everyday lives that they take for granted.
Makoto Shinkai's highly-anticipated new film Suzume is set to open in Japan on November 11, 2022, and Crunchyroll is teaming up with Sony Pictures and Wild Bunch International to bring the feature to global audiences outside of Asia in early 2023.
