Small mice go on a huge journey in The Adventures of Gamba (Known in Japan as Gamba no Bouken, a classic 1975 TV anime which is receiving a "Complete DVD Book" release on Japanese home video from PIA Corporation. The series is based on the 1972 book by Atsuo Saitō, and it features direction by Osamu Dezaki and animation production by TMS Entertainment (then known as Tokyo Movie).
The story of The Adventures of Gamba follows Gamba, a brave-hearted mouse, and his many companions as they embark on a pervious journey on the high seas in order to defend the island of invasion by a clan of evil weasels. The series originally broadcast for 26 episodes from April-September , 1975, on Nippon TV.
PIA's "Complete DVD Book" release includes supplemental materials such as episode comments, illustrations galleries, and crew interviews. The "Complete DVD Book" for The Adventures of Gamba Volume 01 will be released in Japan on September 26, 2019, with Volumes 02 and 03 to follow on October 24, 2019, and November 28, 2019, reflectedly of three volumes, with each volume containing 8 to 9 episodes of the series. Each volume retails for 1501 yen ($ 13.92 US).
