IMAX screenings of Makoto Shinkai's new anime feature film Suzume will be held in Japan from the first day of its release, November 11, 2022, along with its regular screenings.
In commemoration of the IMAX screenings, "Makoto Shinkai IMAX Film Festival" is decided to be held. Shinkai's 2016 film Your Name., 2019 film Weathering With You, and 2007 film 5 Centimeters per Second will be screened at 41 IMAX theaters nationwide for a limited time from September 30. This is the first time that 5 Centimeters will be screened in IMAX format.
In addition, prior to the theatrical release of Suzume on November 11, its world's first IMAX screenings will be held on November 7 from 19:00 (JST) at IMAX theaters across Japan. A total of 200,000 copies of postcards with a serial code, which are necessary to apply for the IMAX screening ticket lottery, will be distributed for the theatergoers of "Makoto Shinkai IMAX Film Festival" nationwide.
